An initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation of female leaders has been given a boost by a hearing aid firm that is utilising Auracast in its products.

Starkey, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, joined employees, community leaders, and local organisations at the Lynx Changemakers event. This was dedicated to showcasing companies and groups that want to empower young leaders through mentoring and community impact sessions.

The Minnesota Lynx compete in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and launched in 1999. They are the sister team to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and have qualified for the WNBA playoffs in 15 of their 26 years.

They aim to transpose this success to their off-court activities, which include the Changemakers: a platform for education, connections, and to institute change through collaboration and intentionality.

Past speakers at its events include Lynx legend Maya Moore, US Soccer legend Brianna Scurry, Lynx superstar and Captain Napheesa Collier, President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Cheryl Reeve, and Lynx legend and Assistant Coach Rebekkah Brunson.

For this Changermakers event, which also supported the Girls Taking Action initiative, Starkey says it continued its commitment to hearing health awareness by providing complimentary hearing protection to fans attending a basketball game, helping promote safe listening in loud environments. This is part of its Starkey Cares initiative, which aims to support programmes that help people thrive, build connections, and live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

“Creating meaningful change starts with coming together to support and uplift others,” said Karen Spaeth, Chief Marketing Officer at Starkey.

“We are proud to partner with the Minnesota Lynx Changemakers platform and support organisations like Girls Taking Action that are helping young women build confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of community.

“It was inspiring to celebrate alongside our employees and see the impact these partnerships can have.”

Starkey says this partnership with the Minnesota Lynx Changemakers platform reflects its broader commitment to empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities that positively impact future generations.

It has Auracast in its Starkey Omega AI and Starkey Edge AI hearing aids.
