Questyle QCC Dongle Pro2 includes Auracast and works with iPhones

Chinese high-end audio specialists releases updated device designed to make audio sharing easier

An updated version of the Questyle QCC DonglePro now includes Auracast.

The original device was designed to bridge the gap between Apple’s AAC and SBC codecs and Sony’s LDAC. Users simply plugged the QCC DonglePro into an iPhone, iPad or Mac and it would then connect to any LDAC-supported audio device.

LDAC is a proprietary Bluetooth audio codec developed by Sony that uses Bluetooth to transmit high-resolution audio, streaming at up to 990kbps to a standard of 96kHz. It is one of the few Bluetooth technologies that is registered as Hi-Res Audio Wireless by the Japan Audio Society.

The newer device has the same aim: ending barriers between devices when it comes to connecting for audio playback. Questyle says the dongle provides “high-end wireless headphones with a more stable, low-latency, and highly controllable high-quality audio transmission scheme, delivering top-tier wireless audio solutions for playback devices across different platforms”.

The company adds that the new generation brings a leap in performance: “supporting the latest Bluetooth technologies and integrating cutting-edge tech such as LHDC, LE Audio, and Auracast for the first time.”

The Questyle QCC Dongle Pro2 plugged into a smartphone alongside its retail packaging, highlighting support for codecs including LDAC, LHDC, Auracast, and LE Audio.

A small and compact device, the Questyle QCC DonglePro2 is designed to be portable and have a minimal footprint. It has a USB-C connector, and it looks to be about 4cm in width.

The Questyle QCC Dongle Pro2 has Apple MFi certification, so it can act as a dedicated transmitter for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It also supports Windows and Android devices plus games consoles such as the Switch and the PlayStation, thanks to its cross-platform plug-and-play functionality.

It is also, like its predecessor, compatible with LDAC and the full aptX series, supporting LHDC high-res transmission at 24-bit/48kHz and up to 900kbps. Users can also use the dedicated Questyle App to freely switch codecs and monitor status. The technology has been incorporated into Android 17.

LHDC (Low Latency and High-Definition Audio Codec) is a high-resolution Bluetooth audio codec independently developed by Savitech. This is designed to overcome the limitations of traditional Bluetooth sound quality.

It also has Bluetooth 6.1, which Questyle says delivers improved stability, interference resistance, and precise audio synchronisation, while the app has been updated to allow for firmware upgrades.
