To mark World Assistive Technology Day, the European Federation of Hard of Hearing People is organising an online seminar.
It will focus on how assistive technologies can help support those with hearing loss, ensuring they can be supported to live an independent life, and be included in the world around them.
The EFHoH says the seminar “comes at a particularly relevant moment, as the European Commission has identified assistive technologies as a stronger priority within its vision for the enhanced EU Disability Strategy recently published”.
They promise that the session will explore the diversity and impact of assistive technologies across different areas of life, and showcase advocacy that has helped advance hearing accessibility at national and international levels.
It will also provide the opportunity to reflect on remaining challenges and identify opportunities for further progress and action.
The seminar will feature five speakers:
- Lidia Best, the president of the EFHoH and Vice-Rapporteir of ITU-D SG1 Q5
- Accessibility expert Alf Lindberg from Horselkadades Riskforbund
- Karen Reyes, the senior programme manager of ATScale
- Ella Revill, regional sales executive from Ampetronic
- Jonathan Elebork Wahlstrom, the general secretary of Unga Horselskadade
It takes place from 5pm BST/6pm CEST on Monday, 8 June.

As we reported last month, the EFHoH Annual General Meeting in April, the EFHoH adopted a position calling for the dual inclusion of Telecoil and Auracast in hearing aids, and also runs a Hands Off Our Telecoils campaign.
