International conference on hyperacusis and misophonia joins EUHA Congress

Conference to explore understanding hyperacusis as an increased sensitivity to everyday sounds and misophonia as a strong reaction to specific triggers

The 70th International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) is set to take place in Hanover this October – and in addition to anticipated Auracast spectacles, there is now an additional reason to visit.

This anniversary year marks a significant development for the world’s largest congress for hearing care professionals, as it will host the eighth International Conference on Hyperacusis and Misophonia (ICHM8) as part of the main event.

The collaboration aims to build a bridge between audiological, psychological, and neuroscientific research regarding sound sensitivity.

ICHM8 continues the tradition of uniting global experts across ENT, audiology, mental health, neuroscience, and patient advocacy to explore the latest in research and clinical innovation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with keynote speakers and a vibrant industry exhibition.

The submission of abstracts is currently requested for oral and poster presentations at ICHM8.

The event welcomes contributions from researchers, clinicians, practitioners, and students working across audiology, psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, ENT, education, public health, and allied disciplines.

EUHA last year pioneered a dual stream Auracast for its plenary sessions: speakers gave lectures and presentations in English or German and delegates could hear a translation, again in one of the two European languages. The system, delivered by Bettear, was for many their first opportunity to experience Auracast.

For those using assistive listening technology, the EUHA congress continues its commitment to accessibility. The 2026 event is expected to maintain high standards for inclusive audio.
