Which televisions have Auracast in? It’s one of the biggest questions we get asked. While much of the focus for Auracast is on public venues such as theatres and railway stations, the technology can transform homes.

For years, hearing aid companies have made proprietary streamers that send an audio signal from telephones or televisions direct to a paired hearing aid or neckloop. The advantage was that the technology was guaranteed to work.

It came with several problems: the setup was designed to only connect to one set of hearing aids, so if friends came round, it was impossible to share the signal. It could also be more expensive than other listening systems, such as Bluetooth headphones.

Auracast transforms the equation.

It is now possible to buy a small TV streamer for as little as £50. This plugs into the back of the television and Auracasts the audio directly to any compatible hearing aid, ear buds, Cochlear or headphones.

But even this has its own issues: often the streamers require a power source and that could be one greater than that a USB port on a television could provide. Or, it can prevent a soundbar from being plugged in, denying others from having the best possible experience when listening to a play, a comedy or a film.

Wouldn’t it be neater to have a television with Auracast built in? Of course it would.

Thankfully, televisions with Auracast are starting to come to the market. But which ones?

Information is hard to come by, not least as companies and retailers are being very coy about Auracast. We covered this last year, and think Auracast should have its own section in product specifications so consumers cannot be confused.

We have been contacting television manufacturers to find out which televisions have Auracast in.

Importantly, this is an article on the World Wide Web: while we write with a British audience in mind we are aware our web traffic comes from all over the globe. Some models listed may be region-specific and we encourage you to try before you buy if possible.

Like our list of hearing aids with Auracast in, we will update this post as and when new information becomes available.
