Starkey, a hearing aid manufacturer committed to Auracast, has been awarded special recognition for its support of the military community.

At a ceremony held in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, the Beyond The Yellow Ribbon award was presented to the US-based company which recently launched the Omega AI, its second Auracast-enabled hearing aid.

The proclamation ceremony was attended by local government officials and distinguished members of the local military community, as well as hundreds of Starkey employees and its leadership team.

The Beyond the Yellow Ribbon designation is awarded to companies and organisations that are deemed to be going above and beyond in supporting service members, veterans, and their families through outreach, resources, and meaningful action. Starkey has been helping veterans to reintegrate into civilian life and careers and feel valued within their communities.

Starkey says that whether through expanding access to care or creating moments of appreciation, its commitment to the military community is deeply ingrained in its culture and purpose.

Brandon Sawalich, Starkey’s President and CEO, said: “At Starkey, we are proud to not only support our greater veteran and active-military community, but to offer additional accommodations and services to our employee veterans, service members and their families.

“It’s an honour to be recognised as a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon company for our efforts to make Starkey a workplace where men and women who have served or continue to serve our country can thrive and get the additional support they need to be successful.”

Among its initiatives is its Starkey Cares programme. This allows its employees to take part in a variety of initiatives that benefit their communities. This has included placing flags at Fort Snelling, writing cards to hospitalised veterans, and taking part in community service projects.

The company also supports a number of worldwide initiatives and is a partner of next year’s Special Olympics, which will be held in Minnesota in June, and works with the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative, and UNICEF’s Children with Disabilities Fund.
