The debut use of Auracast at EUHA, the world’s largest hearing care convention, has been praised by organisers.

The EUHA (European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians) International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians was held in Nuremberg from October 22 to 24. This was the first time that sessions were Auracast in both German and simultaneously translated into English.

Party music in the Nuremberg winter huts could also be enjoyed via Auracast at the Thursday evening celebration, which had an Amadeus theme.

Bettear provided the setup, and visitors could borrow its B-RTX receivers and plug in headphones or portable loops. Alternatively, those with their own Auracast-enabled hearing aids, headphones or earbuds could choose the stream they wanted.

In addition to the Auracasted lectures, Oticon and Starkey launched new Auracast-enabled hearing aids, while GN gave demonstrations of its systems. Ampetronic showcased its Auri system, and Humantechnik had a range of headphones and earbuds for people to try.

EUHA organisers said in a statement that: “Excellent was the feedback on the premiere of Auracast… What is offered at the Sydney Opera House could also be experienced for the first time at the International Congress of Hearing Care Professionals in Nuremberg.”

They added: “Lively activity, great exchanges and the latest news from the fields of hearing acoustics, science and research made the congress unique.

“AI, Auracast, rechargeable, virtually invisible in-ear hearing systems with battery life of up to 30 hours – A new dimension in hearing care has begun.

“This congress set completely new standards in many areas and will remain a fond memory for many participants.”

And that was not all that they said was excellent: the attendance of more than 10,000 people was praised, as was the exhibition area.

There were 150 exhibitors from 19 countries, spread over 15,500 square metres of exhibition space. The top four were Germany, China, Denmark and France. 52 per cent of the exhibitors came from Germany, 48 per cent were international.

Additional ‘excellent’ praise was given to EUHA’s specialist lecture programme: 26 expert talks, four tutorials and 35 national and international speakers.

The Knowledge Symposium featured a lecture by Dr Markus Peifer from the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts on the topic of politics and skilled crafts, launching the programme.

The EUHA Sponsorship Awards 2025 and the Foundation Award of the Research Association of German Hearing Aid Acousticians (FDHA) were presented to Roland Laszig.

The stage programme in the EUHA Live Area was excellent. There were 24 short presentations over three days, and a special programme on the Sound of Future on Friday.

A total of 260 trainees and students were invited to the congress, and they could enjoy a special programme, including a rally and two guided tours. The EUHA organisers said it had been great to meet so many young people who are securing the industry’s future.

The research work of the EUHA Sponsorship Award winners for 2025 is also deemed excellent.

Eva Keil-Becker, chair of the award jury, said in her laudatory speech that the award winners are “people who believe in something. Who get involved. Who want to make a difference”.
