A Cambridge company has become a world record holder, thanks to Auracast.
The attempt took place on Sunday, 29 March, watched by a Guinness World Records adjudicator. Organised by Majority Audio, it saw 1,500 of its Majority Move speakers handed out to crowds before the match between Cambridge United Women and the London Bees, at the Cledara Abbey Stadium in Cambridge.
At half-time, Eddie Latham, co-founder of Majority – which sponsors the women’s team – went to the centre circle with a microphone and switched on the Auracast using a custom-built transmitter that could reach across the terraces and ensured the speakers connected directly to it.
The fans in the stadium – a record attendance of 1,530 – then heard the Auracast over the speakers, breaking the world record.
Guinness World Records made a presentation of the certificate to Majority, and the record is now on its website:
“The most Bluetooth speakers playing from a single source is 1500 and was achieved by Majority Audio (UK) at Cambridge Football Club, Cambridge, UK, on 29 March 2026.
“The certificate presentation took place at Cambridge United Football Club stadium at half-time in a match between the Women’s Cambridge United team and the London Bees. The attendance was over 1530, itself a record for an attendance at a Cambridge United Women’s football match.”
Crowds were allowed to keep their speaker, and youngsters also received a medal. Competition winners received a Majority Pulse 5 Party Speaker and a Majority Bowfell 5.1 Dolby Atmos Surround System.

Cambridge United posted a news story about the record-breaking feat on its website.
Gisela Otten, Chair of the Women’s Board at Cambridge United, was thrilled at the club’s largest gate, to date, for a women’s match. “To have broken the Guinness World Record is remarkable and … it is so heartening to see the growth of the women’s game in Cambridge,” she said.
And Eddie Latham thanked Cambridge FC for getting behind the project.
“Football has the power to unite communities and it’s so gratifying to see smiling families coming together – both in support of their team and to break the record. This is truly a dream come true for myself and all of my colleagues at Majority,” he told the website.
Glen Pollard, Guinness World Record Adjudicator, said: “When I first heard about this record, I assumed it would be a simple case of turning on a large number of Bluetooth speakers and ensuring they were all playing the same sound. As it turned out, there were many technical hurdles to overcome, not least the issue of ensuring the speakers did not connect to an alternative sound source.”
Majority Audio, which was founded in 2012, makes soundbars, music systems, speakers, and alarm clock radios. For the record, they issued people a Majority Move rechargeable speaker with Bluetooth 6.0 and USB playback. The portable device is waterproof and has TWS Stereo pairing.
To activate Auracast, press the Power Button twice, making it quick and easy to connect.
It can also be connected to other Majority speakers, but this mode was not activated for participants in the record attempt; they joined the Auracast broadcast from the centre of the pitch.
While the record attempt was successful, not everything went to plan: the home team lost 3-1.
